Despite entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
