From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
